Spring Break: Disneyland

So, we (just my husband and my son) joined most of Alpine School District and our neighborhood in the annual exodus to Disneyland. We decided spur of the moment back in February that it would be fun to take Michael since he's 4. I agreed to stay home with the twins so the experience could be both more enjoyable and affordable. Grandma went in my place as a pre-thank you gift since she will be tending all three of our children when we go on our cruise this summer.

They left early Wednesday morning with Michael having no clue as to where they were going. When they finally told him as they were boarding the plane, he didn't believe them at first. They arrived Wednesday afternoon and after dropping their bags at their hotel, they walked to the park (although the hotel was not the nicest, it worked out well since it was only a 3 minute walk to Disneyland--they basically only slept there anyway).

The park was not too busy so they were able to do a lot. They stayed until Friday evening and just had their hotel hold their bags until they had to leave for the airport. They brought home a lot of souvenirs: Michael got a new Mickey pirates set with a cool boat, a Star Wars Jedi Mickey (from Grandma) and a light saber that lights up and makes noise. Unfortunately he wasn't selected to participate in the jedi training but at least he got to see it.

Jer bought us both Disneyland sweatshirts and brought me back a new Mickey throw. It is so new they only sell it in one shop there and it didn't even have a price tag on it yet! This is what he told me (probably to get me past the sticker shock--I could care less about how rare something is) anyway.

Michael wasn't really into taking pictures with the characters. He also closed his eyes on a lot of the rides and cried on the Tower of Terror. He missed his friends and was worried they'd be mad he wasn't home to play with. He was also disappointed that they didn't get to go swimming but the hotel's pool was only open 9-6. Michael was seriously millimeters too short to go on the Indiana Jones ride so they had to do ride swap for that one. Luckily, he met the height on everything else (unlike last time we took him when he was 2 1/2). The other frustration was he always had to go to the bathroom at the most inopportune times (while in line and halfway up, for example).

Jer told me he does not want to take kids again until the youngest is at least 8. I concur.
