His coach was our neighbor and city councilman Johnny Revill. His youngest son is the same age as Michael. Their team was the Steelers much to my chagrin. Michael insisted on keeping his loyalty to the Ravens so much that they changed the team cheer to, "Go Steelers! and a Raven!" When the NFL Ravens beat the NFL Steelers, his flag football team became the Ravens for that week only. He was so happy.
Based on his itty bitty football tackling fiasco (those poor kids who got sent to the gym floor--whoops! he forgot a few times), I thought he'd played like Ray Lewis. Instead he turned out to be quite the rusher and played more like Ray Rice whom his coach compared him to on more than occasion.
Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Calvin and his cousin Easton got to come see him play which gave him such pride to have so many fans. It was a fun season and after the last game Coach Revill gave them a Purple Powerade (Go Lehi!) and treat in addition to their participation medal.
Next year, I'm going to make him choose. According to Dad, he wants him to play tackle football in first grade. We'll see....
