Aunt and Uncle Visit

I received a call last Monday evening from my Uncle Ronnie (my mom's older brother) letting me know he was in Colorado and would be in Utah in two days to come visit. They had planned on coming last summer but due to my uncle's health had to postpone the trip.

They came in on Thursday afternoon and stayed through Sunday. On Thursday evening we went to Porter's Place restaurant in Lehi for dinner. I took the day off work Friday and we took them up Provo Canyon to see the mountains and then out to Wendover (to see the salt flats per my aunt's request).

While in Wendover we went to the air base museum, ate at the Friday night seafood buffet at Montego Bay (where I used to work) and then drove out to the Salt Flats. Kudos to my brother in law for watching the kids since the drive and the casino were not very kid friendly.

On Saturday they came down to watch Michael's last soccer game and then on Sunday I took them up to Music and the Spoken Word and then they came down to celebrate my birthday with the Gray side of the family. It was really good to see them since it's been 2 years.

They said we are welcome to come stay at their home in Iowa anytime we come out. On Sunday night I took the kids up to their RV park so they could say good-bye and check out their fifth wheel. It's 38 feet long and they live in it about 6 months at a time when they winter in Texas. The kids of course had to use the toilet and watch Uncle Ronnie use the vacuum to clean up their sand mess. It's nice to see my mom's side of the family. We try to stay in touch via Facebook, email and Christmas cards but a visit is extra special.
